About This Calculator
The 3.8% Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT) was enacted as part of the ACA to help fund Medicare expansion. It applies to dividends, interest, capital gains, rental income, and passive business income for single filers with MAGI above $200,000. Roth IRA distributions are excluded.
