About This Calculator
Slope (rise over run) measures steepness and direction. In economics, it appears as marginal cost (cost per additional unit). Roads grade in percent (3% = 3 ft rise per 100 ft horizontal). A horizontal line has slope 0; a 45° line has slope 1; perpendicular lines have slopes that multiply to −1.
