About This Tool
CPI-U (Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers) measures the price change of a fixed basket of goods and services. The Fed's target is 2% annual inflation. The 2022 peak of 9.1% (June) was the highest since 1981, driven by pandemic supply disruptions and energy prices.
